Britney allowed to see kids
Deprived of their time with the paparazzi, Preston and Jayden James will be able to spend time with their mother, at least temporarily, as Britney Spears has regained temporary visitation rights of her two sons, her attorney said Sunday. "Yes, she has visitation with the children," her lawyer, Anne Kiley, said in an e-mail to The Associated Press without elaborating.
Spears was spotted driving with the boys, Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, on Saturday in the San Fernando Valley, People magazine reported on its Web site. Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon had told Spears last week that she could not visit her two young children without a parenting coach present until she complies with a court order. A hearing on the custody case between Spears and ex-husband Kevin Federline is set for October 26.
Kid Rock arrested after waffle house brawl
The self-described Rock N Roll Jesus is selling records, kicking a** and taking names. Just six weeks after getting arrested at the 2007 MVTV Video Music Awards for punching fellow Pamela Anderson ex-husband Tommy Lee, Kid Rock was arrested again last night after a brawl at a waffle house in Atlanta, police told the Associated Press.
Kid Rock--real name Bob Ritchie--and five members of his entourage were arrested on simple battery charges early Sunday after a brawl at the Waffle House restaurant shortly after 5 a.m., following his concert at The Tabernacle in Atlanta, authorities said. The men spent about 12 hours in jail before being released, police said.
A male customer at the restaurant reportedly recognized a woman in Kid Rock's party and exchanged words with her, police said, and a fight ensued, with Kid Rock and the male customer taking it outside to the parking lot. At some point, the customer punched out a restaurant window, she said. Kid Rock left in his tour bus and was stopped by police about a mile from the restaurant.
Manson showcases home online
The place will probably need an extensive cleanse, but Marilyn Manson is selling his pad. The shock rocker has posted pics of his $1.1 million home in Southern California online in his attempt to sell it, possibly looking for some closure from his failed marriage to Dita Von Teese.
Manson bought the home, located in Chatsworth in 2004. It boasts a pool, air conditioning, home recording studio and, as you'd expect for an artist who delights in shock value, a "breakfast nook" alongside the more formal dinning room.
Dube murder suspects arrested
Police in South Africa have arrested five men in the killing of reggae star Lucky Dube, who was gunned down in an apparent carjacking attempt last week. Police arrested the men Sunday and seized two stolen handguns and a car allegedly used during the crime. A hearing is set for tomorrow.
Dube, who launched his career in the 1980s with criticism of the apartheid regime, was killed after he dropped off two of his children at his brother's suburban Johannesburg house. Carjacking is rife in South Africa, with Dube being the latest and most prominent victim.
Grand Ole Opry star has lung cancer
Country legend Porter Wagoner has lung cancer and remains hospitalized in serious condition, a publicist for the 80-year-old Grand Ole Opry star said Sunday. No other details were announced, but an Opry spokeswoman told the Associated Press that Dolly Parton, whose career Wagoner helped launch by hiring her as a duet partner in 1967, visited him in the hospital last week.
Wagoner, known for his rhinestone stage outfits, celebrated his 50th year at the Grand Ole Opry in May. Wagoner has picked up some rock fans in recent years with his signing to ANTI-records and opening slot at a sold-out show White Stripes show at Madison Square Garden in New York City this summer. Wagoner was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2002.
