Def Jam president will play five US shows around the release of his new album, which was inspired by the forthcoming film of the same name.
American Gangster hits theaters November 2, and four days later, Jay-Z will bring his album inspired by the movie to a few select concert halls.
The rapper and Def Jam president said today that he will play five shows around the November 6 release of his album, American Gangster, which he says he was inspired to make by watching the film of the same name. The film stars Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe and tells the story of drug kingpin Frank Lucas.
The tour will kick off November 6 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, and hit Chicago, Baltimore, and New York before wrapping up in Philadelphia November 12.
During the shows, Jay-Z will only perform material from the new album, of which two songs, "Blue Magic" and "Roc Boys (And the Winner Is ...)," have been leaked online so far. For the album, Jay-Z has worked with a wide range of producers, including Diddy and the Hitmen, Pharrell, Just Blaze, DJ Toomp, Sean C. and LV, No ID and Jermaine Dupri. Nas, Beanie Sigel, and Lil Wayne are said to make guest appearances.
