In post to the band's Web site, frontman Chris Martin says fans can expect "experimentation" but "no posturing."

Coldplay's next album might make you go bald.

In a post on the band's Web site, the UK rockers told fans that the album is almost finished and mentioned that an unspecified, self-imposed deadline was causing at least one member "a small patch of alopecia on my head."

Hair loss aside, the band says it is nearing completion of its fourth album, due in the first half of 2008 on Capitol Records. The album is said to be 42 minutes long and will include previously announced tracks like "Lost," "Cemeteries of London," "Violet Hill," "Poppy Fields," "42," "Yes!," "Leftrightleftrightleft," and "Rainy Day." According to the latest post, two new tracks, "Famous Old Painters" and "Glass of Water," will be added to the mix.

"The pressure to finish has triggered a new writing surge," the band wrote. "However, the deadline still stands. With two new songs to explore and record, there's a lot of extra work, but it still can be done."

"It feels like a very dense record," the band continued. "There are so many melodies and colors packed into a relatively short space [42 minutes]. As you'd expect with [producer] Brian Eno, there's experimentation and exploration," it says. "But the music still has integrity. It's real and honest. There's no posturing or bombast."

"When the deadline comes and the work is done, this will be the album I always dreamed we'd make," it concludes.

The as-yet-untitled new album is the follow-up to 2005's X&Y, which has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

Brian Eno is rumored to kick an ass or two and I'm looking forward to hearing what they come up with but I seriously doubt Chris Martin will be able to abstain completely from posturing, which has served him so well in the past.

Coldplay never intended to become England's favorite rock & roll sons when their signature rock melodies ruled the charts throughout 2000. The Brit rock quartet -- composed of Chris Martin (vocals/piano), Jon Buckland (guitar), Will Champion (drums), and Guy Berryman (bass) -- yearned to mess around a bit, plucking their own acoustics for fun...
