Jose Gonzalez seems to have it all.

Born in Sweden to Argentine parents, he's got it going on in both sides of the brain, with a Ph.D in biochemistry and a burgeoning career as an acclaimed singer-songwriter. He's also dating frequent collaborator Yukimi Nagano, whose work with Koop and her own group Little Dragon has drawn rave reviews.

It's all enough to incite a hint of jealousy, until you meet him and realize he's a terribly nice guy who is both down to earth and thoughtful. Just before taking the stage for a riveting set at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco, Gonzalez sat down with MP3.com to talk about his new album, In Our Nature, his current tour, nature vs. nurture, his hardcore past, and keeping his sound spare.
