Ice Cube - AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted (1990)

"Stat to finish, every song is really slammin' and well thought out. You think about the time when it was created and all of the stuff that was going on then in LA, he really brings that to life--the streets of LA at that time."

Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique (1989)

"The way they flew through samples and used them in their lyrics and the artistic value of how they did it had never been done before."

Ozomatli - Ozomatli (1998)

"We played it in full for the first time [live] last night. And it got me thinking of how wonderful of a record it is. I don't say that as far as me being an artist on it. I really mean it just from a listener's standpoint. ... Are we on cable? Well, this is a f***ing great record."

Fishbone - The Reality of My Surroundings (1991)

"Ozomatli gets so much of its energy, vibe, and music from Fishbone culture. I grew up in Fishbone culture as a kid. If they were in LA, I was there. I idolized them and still do to this day. 'Housework' is a masterpiece. There's not another band out there like them."

The Clash - London Calling (1979)

"I have been listening to that album religiously for years, and it all works for me. The styles of music that they were getting into at that time, nobody was doing. They were into reggae, they came from punk, and they were the first ones that introduced me to rap music. Those guys changed my life."
