With two new members in tow, veteran rockers will play new album in its entirety, in addition to a stop at SXSW.

Sixteen months removed from a turbulent run that saw them fire their keyboardist, watch their on-again, off-again guitarist walk out abruptly, and endure singer Chris Robinson's divorce from actress Kate Hudson, the Black Crowes are back.

The veteran rockers have a new album on the way and a series of live dates in which they vow to play the new set in its entirety each night.

The album, dubbed Warpaint, contains a number of tracks that the band has been playing live for some time. The record marks the recording debut of two new band members--guitarist Luther Dickerson of the North Mississippi Allstars and keyboardist Adam MacDougall--who join founder Chris and Rich Robinson, drummer Steve Gorman, and bassist Sven Pipien.

The band plans a series of "One Night Only" shows, each of which will feature Warpaint played in its entirety. The tour will kick off March 2 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey, and conclude April 11 at the Amsterdam Music Hall in Amsterdam, Holland.

The Black Crowes are also set for a headlining show at the 2008 South by Southwest festival, with a March 15 set at Stubb's.

Hopefully this one is better than "Amorica." I reviewed that one for my college paper in about 1994, and it was awful.

The Black Crowes The Black Crowes

At the time of their 1990 debut, the kind of rock & roll the Black Crowes specialize in was out of style. Only Guns N' Roses came close to approximating a vintage Stones-style raunch, but they were too angry and jagged to pull it off completely. The Black Crowes replicated that Stonesy swagger and Faces boogie perfectly. Vocalist Chris Robinson...

If the Black Crowes are anything, they are survivors (and, reportedly, if Chris Robinson had his way, he'd be a genuine survivor, appearing on CBS' genius television show with his wife Kate Hudson), weathering years of popularity and disdain, before emerging at the end of the '90s as a rarity -- a real, road-weathered rock & roll band, in the...
