Eclectic duo names sophomore album The Odd Couple; album hits stores April 8 on Atlantic.

Their first go-round had them dressing up as droogs, hapless bowlers, and Cheech & Chong, among other costumed pairings.

For their next act, Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse, better known as the hugely successful, eclectic soul duo Gnarls Barkley, are keeping it odd and being more up-front about it.

In an announcement on its Web site, Gnarls said it has named its forthcoming sophomore album The Odd Couple, and it will hit stores April 8 via Downtown/Atlantic.

The album is the follow-up to the duo's debut, St. Elsewhere, which has sold more than 1.3 million copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The duo is still putting the finishing touches on the album in Los Angeles. There's no tracklist just yet, but one song, "Run," an up-tempo retro-soul piece that recalls Sam & Dave's R&B classic "Hold On, I'm Comin,'" has already leaked online.

Both artists have a number of side projects. Danger Mouse has produced material for The Black Keys, Martina Topley-Bird, and the Shortwave Set, whereas Cee-Lo launched his own Radiculture Records and has pending projects with Jazze Pha and Plantlife's Jack Splash.

Multi-talented and flamboyant, Cee-Lo initially made a name for himself and his trademark crooning as part of pioneering Dirty South rappers Goodie Mob before he broke away in the early 2000s for a colorful solo route. Who is Gnarls Barkley, and how did he ascend to the top of the British charts with a song that brings an eerie clarity to the cloud of mental illness? Cee-Lo's debut album had been an interesting listen but resonated with very few listeners, so some changes were due for his second go-round, Cee-Lo Green Is the Soul Machine, which is indeed a drastically improved effort.
