Annual Tennessee festival gets Metallica, Pearl Jam, Kanye West, Jack Johnson, Willie Nelson, Sigur Ros, plenty of jam-friendly acts, and loads more.

As has been long rumored, the music of Led Zeppelin will indeed be bursting from the speakers at the 2008 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival.

But though Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant will be at the seventh annual event, he'll be playing with recent collaborator Alison Krauss. The Zeppelin part of the festival will be represented by Lez Zeppelin, an all-female Zeppelin cover band.

Bonnaroo unveiled its most diverse lineup yet today, with Metallica, Pearl Jam, Jack Johnson, and Kanye West headlining a bill featuring more than 100 bands and 20 comedians performing on 13 stages over four days. Bonnaroo is set for June 12-15 on a massive farm in Manchester, Tennessee.

The lineup includes the likes of Willie Nelson, Sigur Ros, Ben Folds, The Raconteurs, Death Cab For Cutie, B.B. King, Levon Helm and the Ramble on the Road, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Mastodon, Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings, Broken Social Scene, M.I.A., Iron & Wine, Ghostland Observatory, and José González.

But as has long been Bonnaroo tradition, there is plenty of fare for the jam-band crowd. Phil Lesh & Friends; My Morning Jacket; The Allman Brothers Band; The Bluegrass Allstars feat. Luke Bulla, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Bela Fleck, Edgar Meyer, and Bryan Sutton; Umphrey's McGee; Yonder Mountain String Band; and Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi's Soul Stew Revival are all on the bill.

Bonnaroo's Comedy Tent will host Janeane Garofalo, Zach Galifianakis, Mike Birbiglia, Jim Norton, Brian Posehn, and David Cross.

Tickets go on sale exclusively through Bonnaroo.com on Feb. 16 at noon. Ticket buyers will have the option to purchase a commemorative DVD of the 2008 festival that will be sent to them in December.

Wish I could be there for Aimee Mann and Sigur Ros. Oh well. Also, am I the only one that thinks that James Hetfield is looking kind of old?

Metallica was easily the best, most influential heavy metal band of the '80s, responsible for bringing the music back to Earth. Instead of playing the usual rock star games of metal stars of the early '80s, the band looked and talked like they were from the street. Metallica expanded the limits of thrash, using speed and volume not for their own...

Pearl Jam rose from the ashes of Mother Love Bone to become the most popular American rock & roll band of the '90s. In a short span of time, Kanye West went from hitmaking producer to just plain hitmaker, as his stellar production work earned him a solo record deal and soon his beats were accompanied by his own witty raps on a number of critically and commercially successful releases. Before Jack Johnson perfected his rock star ways, he was a champion surfer on the professional route, with a sponsorship with Quiksilver. It was a life that was second nature for the Hawaiian native, for he began chasing waves as a toddler, and by the time he was 17, he was an outstanding athlete on the pipeline. However, Johnson was also...

As a songwriter and a performer, Willie Nelson played a vital role in post-rock & roll country music. Although he didn't become a star until the mid-'70s, Nelson spent the '60s writing songs that became hits for stars like Ray Price ("Night Life"), Patsy Cline ("Crazy"), Faron Young ("Hello Walls"), and Billy Walker ("Funny How Time Slips Away")...
