Singer's follow-up to multiplatinum Emancipation of Mimi will hit stores April 15; first single, "Touch My Body," hits radio today.
Having ridden her Emancipation to sales of more than 10 million albums worldwide, Mariah Carey is now taking on the theory of relativity.
The R&B diva unveiled details of her forthcoming album today, the follow-up to her April 2005 release, Emancipation of Mimi, which sold more than 10 million copies worldwide and nabbed three Grammy Awards.
The new album, which will hit stores April 15, will be called E=MC˛, best known as the mass-energy equivalence, or the formula derived by Albert Einstein that any mass has an associated energy, and vice versa.
E=MC˛, which will be Carey's 11th studio album, was produced by a variety of top-notch producers, including Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will.I.Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills, and James Poyser. Carey and Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio "LA" Reid served as executive producers.
The first single off of E=MC˛, "Touch My Body," hits radio today, and was produced by Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart, and The-Dream. A video for the song was directed by filmmaker Brett Ratner, who helmed X-Men: The Last Stand and the Rush Hour franchise.
