Band issues press release saying that singer's "increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."

An internal war of words has morphed into a divorce.

In a terse press release issued this afternoon, the four members of Velvet Revolver-- Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, and Dave Kushner--said they have parted ways with frontman Scott Weiland.

"This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn't 100 percent committed to either," guitarist Slash said in the statement. "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."

Weiland has yet to comment on the move, but given his announcement at a show in Scotland last week that fans were seeing the band's final tour, as well as his blog battle with Sorum, it likely comes as no surprise.

The band was expected to take a hiatus this summer to allow for Weiland to perform with his reunited Stone Temple Pilots bandmates in a series of major music festivals.

Billboard reported yesterday that the group will play more than 50 live dates this summer and into fall, beginning with the Rock on the Range festival on May 17-18 at Columbus, Ohio's Columbus Crew Stadium.

Although details remain unclear, Slash told UK newspaper Daily Star that Velvet Revolver aims to stay together.

"There will be a third album," he said. "We don't know how or when but the core four guys will continue."

That stinks.
But i'm more of an STP fan anyway.
So who will the VR choose as their frontman now? Scott is very good! He can't be easily replaced.

After first rocketing to fame as the frontman for grunge-era favorites Stone Temple Pilots, singer Scott Weiland later mounted a solo career. Born October 27, 1967 in Santa Cruz, California, he was raised outside of Cleveland, but moved back to the West Coast at the age of 15, immersing himself in the thriving Orange County punk scene. In 1987...

Stone Temple Pilots Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots were able to make alternative rock into stadium rock; naturally, they became the most critically despised band of their era. Accused by many critics of being nothing more than rip-off artists, pilfering from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, the band nevertheless became major stars in 1993. And the influences of...

Scott Weiland's addictions were well documented and were often blamed for the disintegration of Stone Temple Pilots.
