Minister confirms Carey-Cannon marriage

It doesn't quite have the same Bonnie-and-Clyde ring to it as Jay-Z and Beyonce, but Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have qualified for the latest music marriage du jour. The pair reportedly married last week on the Caribbean island of Eleuthera, and the minister who officiated the ceremony confirmed the marriage to People magazine.

Bishop Clifford Petty of the National Church of God in Governor's Harbour in Eleuthera said he presided over their wedding, and Jacob the Jeweler, who reportedly made Carey's ring, confirmed the wedding as well. The magazine also cited an unnamed source as saying that the singer obtained a marriage license in Eleuthera.

Eleuthera is located next to the island of Windermere, where Carey reportedly owns a home. Carey, 38 and Cannon, 27, reportedly have been dating for less than two months. They connected when Cannon directed the video for her latest single, "Bye Bye," in late March.

Carey was previously married to music mogul Tommy Mottola. They divorced in 1998.

Fergie records Sex and the City theme

The girls of Sex and the City are getting a visit from The Dutchess. Fergie has recorded the theme song for the forthcoming feature film based on the HBO show starring Sarah Jessica Parker. The film hits theaters May 30. The track, dubbed "Labels or Love," was written by Salaam Remi, Rico Love, and Douglas Cuomo and will anchor the movie's soundtrack.

It will also be included on a new "deluxe" version of The Dutchess, Fergie's triple-platinum album. In addition to "Labels or Love," the album will also feature a cover of Heart's "Barracuda," which Fergie performed live with Heart on the Idol Gives Back benefit last month, a Soulja Boy remix of "Clumsy," and "Party People" featuring Nelly.

Winehouse won't record Bond track

Some observers may conclude that it's a "miracle of science" that Amy Winehouse is even alive at this point. But that's just what it would take for the troubled singer to finish work on the theme song for the latest James Bond film, according to her producer Marc Ronson.

Ronson told Sky News late last week that he and Amy Winehouse started work on the track for the upcoming Bond movie Quantum of Solace but have since abandoned recording the theme because the singer is "not ready to record any music." Ronson produced much of Winehouse's Grammy-winning Back to Black.

Winehouse's troubles with drugs, the police, and her rocky romance with her jailed husband Blake Fielder-Civil have kept the singer in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Police gave her a formal warning last week after she scuffled with two men during a raucous night out.

Gretchen Wilson passes GED

Country music singer Gretchen Wilson passed her General Educational Development exam in April and will don a cap and gown during a May 15 graduation ceremony. The 34-year-old star had dropped out of high school in ninth grade and was one of 20 percent of Tennesseans without a high school diploma.

Wilson told The Tennessean that her 7-year-old daughter was the big reason to finally finish, saying, "I certainly don't want her to think you can be this successful without an education." Wilson's debut album, Here for the Party, has sold 5 million copies.

UB40 frontman replaced by brother

For UB40, a brotherly spat over all that "Red, Red Wine" money has turned ugly. Ali Campbell, who left the group last January after a 30-year tenure as its frontman, will be replaced by his estranged brother Duncan on the band's new tour.

Duncan Campbell told NME that he asked for Ali's blessing before stepping in but stressed they were not otherwise on speaking terms. "I told him if he objected strongly, I wouldn't do it," Duncan Campbell said. "But I haven't spoken to him since. The wounds are fresh."

Duncan and his other brother Robin said that Ali left the band to pursue a solo career and that the relationship between them "takes a lot of healing." In the meantime, reggae star Maxi Priest has also joined the fold for the band's forthcoming tour. The band gave away a version of their new album, Twentyfourseven with the Mail on Sunday newspaper last Sunday, much as Prince did in 2007.
