Saying he's tired of the music business, Kay leaves label and says he's hoping to have kids and find the right woman--not necessarily in that order.

Jay Kay is ready for a nice big slice of quitter cake.

Indicating that he's sick of the music business, the Jamiroquai frontman said this week that he has parted company with his record label and is retiring from making music.

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, the 37-year-old Kay said that the only thing that mattered now was "having kids and finding a good woman."

The decision stemmed from a painful end to his longstanding relationship with Sony BMG, he said.

"I haven't been happy there for a while," Kay said. "I've had some ups and downs but in the end the downs were just too many. When we talked about me leaving, I jumped at the chance."

Jamiroquai has sold more than 27 million albums worldwide since its 1993 debut, Emergency on Planet Earth. The acid jazz group, which mixed soul and funk with electronic beats, scored one Grammy and landed six multi-platinum albums in its career.

Kay said he's recently been suffering from lack of inspiration and is tired of touring.

"I might be back if I get my inspiration again, but who knows," he told us. "I'm bored. I don't want to go back on the road. We all need a rest to be honest. I don't need the money or a deal. One minute I would be promoting a single with one team and the next they brought different people in and expected me to go along with it. There was no way in hell I was doing that. I'm just tired of the format and wanted to call it a day with them."

Jamiroquai recent set a Guinness World Record for highest concert after performing at 35,000 feet on board a Boeing 757 flight from Munich to Athens.

"All I'm going to do now is fly my helicopter and look for the right lady to have children with," Kay said. "I feel free and I want to find love. My guitarist has just had a baby girl and made me realize how much I want one. I'm not ready to tie the knot, though, because I don't want to lose my house."

Too bad. He was a real talented. Maybe after he starts a family and finds happiness he will return to music.

He hasn't written much good music lately anyway.

He's still a legend mind.

Jamiroquai is overrated and derivative. And his thing with kooky hats is just annoying. I am totally indifferent to this news.

Sad news... I love his music but that's how the music business is. At least I have a lot of music of his to listen to on my iPod. I just hope he has a better claim to fame than having the "Napoleon Dynamite" song
