British soul singer unveils a 16-date North American jaunt in support of her forthcoming album, which hits stores March 20.

She's already two albums deep, but Joss Stone has picked her forthcoming third album for an official introduction to the world.

The British soul singer, just 16 years old when she released The Soul Sessions in 2003, has titled her new album Introducing Joss Stones, which hits stores March 20. The album, Stone's first in which she wrote or cowrote all of the lyrics, was produced by Raphael Saadiq. It features an appearance from Common and a rare rap verse from Lauryn Hill.

"It's the first album that is truly me," Stone, 19, said in a statement. "These are my words, and this is who I am as an artist."

Stone said this week that she plans a North American tour in support of Introducing.

Following a March 20 performance on NBC's The Today Show, the trek will kick off April 27 in Mashantucket, Connecticut and includes stops at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Central Park Summerstage in NYC. The tour concludes June 13 at the Filene Center in Vienna, Virginia.

Introducing is the follow-up to 2004's Mind, Body & Soul, which debuted at No. 11 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 1.2 million copies in the US, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

English singer Joss Stone was just 16 when she emerged on the pop/rock scene in 2003. Ready to take on the pop domination of Britney and Christina with a sound wise beyond her teenage years, Stone positioned herself among the more established and credible artists (Norah Jones, Jill Scott, Nikka Costa) reigning adult alternative pop/rock. Born...

Joss Stone
On the cover of her debut, The Soul Sessions, Joss Stone's face is obscured by a vintage microphone, a deliberate move that emphasized the retro-soul vibe of the LP while hiding the youthful face that would have given away that Stone was a mere 16 years old at the time of the album's release. The point was to put the music before the image and...

Raphael Saadiq
Ray Ray looks more like a concept album -- about a Blaxploitation hero -- than it sounds like one. It's another ambitious release from Raphael Saadiq, who has continued to be very active as a musician, producer, and songwriter for other artists. Though the Fugees had been wildly successful, and Lauryn Hill had been widely recognized as a key to their popularity, few were prepared for her stunning debut.
