Snoop Dogg arrested in Sweden

Snoop Dogg Snoop Dogg

Deemed to be clearly under the influence of drugs, Snoop Dogg was held by police overnight on suspicion of using illegal narcotics but was released after questioning and drug tests, a police spokesman said today. The rapper, currently on a European tour with Diddy, had just finished a performance in Stockholm when police stopped the car he was riding in around 1:30 a.m., police spokesman Matts Brannlund told the Associated Press. Both Snoop and his 23-year-old female companion showed signs of drug use and were taken to a police station. Police conducted drug tests on the pair, the results of which will be available in the coming weeks, and released them at around 5 a.m. "In two to three weeks, we'll know if he was on something," Brannlund said.

Snoop Dogg could face a fine if his drug test comes back positive. In Sweden, fines are means-tested and "if he earns a lot, it can be a couple of thousand [Swedish crowns] ($280)," he said. Snoop has been arrested a number of times in recent months, mostly on drugs or weapons charges. Once principals in the rival Bad Boy and Death Row rap camps--a rivalry that featured the murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G.--Snoop Dogg and Diddy are playing 22 shows together throughout Europe.

Report: Madonna to appear on Nip/Tuck

Madonna Madonna

Having courted controversy over the past year with a provocative concert tour and an adoption of a baby from Malawi, Madonna is reportedly set to tackle plastic surgery with an appearance on hit TV show Nip/Tuck. The show's creator, Ryan Murphy, told The Sun that he's currently writing a part for the pop superstar that would likely incorporate her friend and League of their Own costar Rosie O'Donnell, who has become a regular on the show. "I'm going to write something for Madonna, who is a fan of the show and I would love for her to do something with Rosie," Murphy told the paper. Murphy also said that Nicole Kidman will appear on an episode of the show.

Busta barred from film set in NYC

Busta Rhymes Busta Rhymes

Busta Rhymes' ongoing beef with the New York City Police Department isn't just hitting the rapper on his rap sheet. According to the Associated Press, Rhymes--real name Trevor Smith--was barred from a NYC film set for a movie in which he is set to appear, forcing the film's director to exclude the rapper from appearing in scenes set in New York City. Citing a "security concern," the New York mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting prohibited Rhymes from appearing on the set of Order of Redemption over the weekend.

Rhymes has drawn the ire of the NYPD by refusing to cooperate in the investigation into the murder of his bodyguard Israel Ramirez. The NYPD has vowed that it does not have a vendetta against the rapper, but he has found himself in trouble with the law at an alarming rate for the past year. Rhymes was arrested for driving with a suspended license, cited for talking on a cell while driving, arrested on suspicion of beating his former limo driver in a dispute over back pay, and arrested on charges of assaulting a man who accidentally spit on his car.

James Brown buried--temporarily

James Brown James Brown

More than 10 weeks after his death, the body of James Brown was buried in a private family ceremony at the Beech Island, South Carolina, home of one of his daughters. The burial is merely temporary, however, as Brown will eventually be buried in a public mausoleum in an as-yet undisclosed location. The Godfather of Soul, who met his death at the age of 73, was temporarily entombed Saturday pending the completion of the mausoleum, Rev. Al Sharpton, who presided over the service, told Reuters. "The children used their own funds to pay for their father's entombment so that their father could be put to rest without further delay," Sharpton said in a statement.

The aftermath of Brown's death has been a delay-ridden mess, with family members and Brown's partner, Tomi Rae Hynie, disputing his estate in court. Sharpton said that Brown's children "wanted to see their father entombed in a resting place without delay, rather than await court decisions." The body had been kept in a temperature-controlled room at Brown's home in South Carolina.

Courtney Love sued over rehab fees

Courtney Love Courtney Love

Following a much-publicized, successful rehab stint last year, Courtney Love is back on the scene and has a new album on the way. But the luxury rehab center she attended says the singer and Kurt Cobain widow owes it $181,000. MTV.com reported that the Beau Monde center is suing Love for unpaid rehabilitation fees, claiming she paid $10,000 upfront to begin her 180-day treatment stint in 2005, but has yet to pay the rest. Love was ordered by an Orange County Superior Court Judge into the treatment facility following her conviction for possession of illegal painkillers and assault and battery, and was also placed on probation, which was lifted late last year.
