Traveling metal festival, sponsor-driven and free for the first time, will also feature performances from Hatebreed; more acts TBA.
When Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne said last month that this year's Ozzfest would be sponsor-driven and free for the first time, and that bands would be asked to play for free, most fans wondered who would jump on board.
The first family of metal partially answered that question this week, saying that the 2007 Ozzfest tour has landed Finnish cult band Lordi, as well as Lamb of God, to join Ozzy on the event's main stage. New Haven, Connecticut-based group HateBreed will headline the second stage, which will also feature Mondo Generator, Ankla, Circus Diablo, Nile, and the Showdown.
Ozzfest is set to play 24 dates this summer, starting on July 12 in Seattle.
"A lot of the older guys in the industry have been coming up to me and saying, 'Oh, this is great, it's innovative,' and then behind my back they're going, 'She's f*cking nuts,'" Sharon Osbourne told Billboard about the move. "Fine--believe me, I've heard worse. As long as everybody has a great time, nobody loses money or goes broke doing this, what harm will it do to go out there and do something like this?"
Fans must visit either Ozzfest.com or LiveNation.com to find links that will direct them to special sponsor sites where tickets can be secured. Tickets will be available for download on June 12.
