In addition to headliners the Police and Smashing Pumpkins, dozens of bands added to bill of two-day August event in Baltimore.
East Coast music fans unwilling or unable to make the trek to Chicago for Lollapalooza are in luck, as the second US edition of the Virgin Fest in Baltimore unveiled a loaded lineup for the same weekend.
In addition to previously announced headliners the Police and Smashing Pumpkins, organizers have added a who's who of up-and-comers, grizzled vets, and buzz bands. Beastie Boys, Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Interpol, TV on the Radio, Spoon, Bad Brains, Wu-Tang Clan, Peter Bjorn and John, and Amy Winehouse are all on the bill.
The event, to be held August 4 and 5 at Baltimore's Pimlico Race Course, will also features sets by Cheap Trick, LCD Soundsystem, M.I.A., Velvet Revolver, CSS, Regina Spektor, Girl Talk, Crystal Method, 311, Incubus, Chris Cornell, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Booka Shade, Shout Out Out Out Out, Fountains of Wayne, the Fratellis, Matisyahu, Fiction Plane, Felix da Housecat, Miguel Migs (Petalpusher), Deep Dish (Dubfire + Sharam), James Zabiela, Infected Mushroom, Dieselboy & Andy C, Sasha & John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, and Paolo Nutini.
"Our fantastic line-up will be sure to excite festival-goers of all ages," Virgin chairman Sir Richard Branson said in a statement. "We're going to redefine cool at one of the hottest and greenest destinations for live music this summer."
Tickets will be available beginning Saturday through Ticketmaster as two-day passes for $175 and two-day, VIP passes for $450. Single-day tickets, if still available, will go on sale May 19 and be priced at $97.50 for single-day passes and $250 for single day VIP tickets.
