Musical lineup will include Fergie, Carrie Underwood, Avril Lavigne, J-Lo, Fall Out Boy, Usher, Aerosmith, Alicia Keys, among others.

Some of music's biggest stars will perform, all in the name of fashion, at the 4th annual Fashion Rocks event as part of New York's fall fashion week in September.

Fergie Fergie

The event, put on each year by Conde Nast Media Group, features models strutting their stuff down a runway as musical guests do the same nearby. This year's event, to be held Sept. 7 at Radio City Music Hall and airing on CBS, will feature performances from the likes of Fergie, Carrie Underwood, Avril Lavigne, J-Lo, Fall Out Boy, Usher, Aerosmith, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Ludacris, Martina McBride, and Santana.

Fashion Rocks will be hosted by Entourage star Jeremy Piven.

"The synergy between fashion and music is even more pronounced now than it was when we first created Fashion Rocks three years ago," Conde Nast's Richard Beckman said in a statement. "Each year the line between the two becomes increasingly blurred as more musicians launch fashion lines and more designers align themselves with musicians."

Carrie Underwood Carrie Underwood

The first country American Idol, Carrie Underwood grew up in the small town of Checotah, OK, and began singing with her church at the tender age of three. Throughout her childhood, she also performed at functions for the Lion's Club and Old Settlers Day, and eventually at festivals in several states. Along with developing her singing, Underwood...

Avril Lavigne Avril Lavigne

Wild child Avril Lavigne hit big in summer 2002 with her spiky-fun debut song, "Complicated," shifting pop music into a different direction. Lavigne, who was 17 at the time, didn't seem concerned with the glamour of the TRL-dominated pop world and such confidence allowed her star power to soar. The middle of three children in small-town Napanee,...

Jennifer Lopez Jennifer Lopez

Actress/singer Jennifer Lopez was born in the Bronx, NY, on July 24, 1969; after starting out in musical theater as a child, at age 16 she made her film debut in the little-seen My Little Girl, but her career then stalled until she was tapped to become one of the dancing "Fly Girls" on the television sketch comedy series In Living Color. A...

Fall Out Boy Fall Out Boy

The four members of Chicago's Fall Out Boy came together in suburban Wilmette around 2000. Vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist/lyricist Pete Wentz, drummer Andrew Hurley, and guitarist Joe Trohman had all been in and out of various units connected to Chicago's underground hardcore scene. Most notably, Hurley drummed for Racetraitor, the...

Usher Usher

After being spotted by a La Face record executive at a talent show in his hometown of Atlanta, it took no time for Usher Raymond's career to take off. The 14-year-old auditioned for La Face co-founder L.A. Reid, who signed the gospel choir boy to a recording contract. Raymond was introduced to the world simply as "Usher," and released his debut...

Aerosmith Aerosmith

Aerosmith was one of the most popular hard rock bands of the '70s, setting the style and sound of hard rock and heavy metal for the next two decades with their raunchy, bluesy swagger. The Boston-based quintet found the middle ground between the menace of the Rolling Stones and the campy, sleazy flamboyance of the New York Dolls, developing a...

Alicia Keys Alicia Keys

Her official website says she possesses an "old soul," and the hard facts seem to back up the implied claim of wisdom and experience that transcend Alicia Keys' youth. Barely in her twenties, Keys was responsible for an extremely hot debut, Songs in A Minor. The release, which she wrote and produced for Clive Davis' J Records, blends diverse...

Given the tightly controlled nature of American Idol, it's a wonder that the televised talent contest has never produced a winner who specialized in country music, since there's no segment of modern popular music that is controlled tighter than contemporary country. Aerosmith prove that a band can be inspired by the blues and play the blues without ever feeling like a blues band. Then again, the nature of the blues is that every musician who plays it stamps his or her own identity on a set of familiar chord changes and songs. While it might not feel like the blues, Aerosmith do indeed stamp their...

Forget that it's awfully hard to call this live recording Unplugged. Unlike the early installments of the MTV series, which focused on a performer accompanied only with an acoustic guitar, resulting in unsurprisingly simple affairs, Alicia Keys' Unplugged is big, splashy, and immodest -- even if her guitarist is playing acoustic and she plays a...
