With a new album on the way July 31 and its Family Values tour kicking off today, alt-metal group stays busy.
As he gets set to kick off his hard-rocking Family Values tour tonight near St. Louis, Korn's Jonathan Davis is ready to show off his softer side--think Prince and Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam.
Korn, which is set to release a new, untitled album on July 31, is also plotting an album of cover songs, including the likes of Prince's "Erotic City," Ozzy Osbourne's "Diary of a Madman," and Debbie Deb's "Lookout Weekend" as done by Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam.
"We've already done, like, 'Love My Way' from Psychedelic Furs," Davis told Billboard. "We've done 'We Care a Lot' from Faith No More [and Nine Inch Nails'] 'Head Like a Hole.' Those are already recorded. We just gotta get in and do some more."
The group, which previously covered Radiohead's "Creep" for its MTV Unplugged album that came out in March, has no timetable for releasing the covers album, as it has plenty of other work on its plate.
The band launches its nine-year-old Family Values Tour, which also features Evanescence, Atreyu, Hellyeah, and Trivium, tonight at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre near St. Louis.
Davis told Billboard.com that Korn's stage set is "f**kin' ridiculous ... the hugest thing we've ever done--lights, everything. The show gradually goes and at the end it totally peaks. It's definitely different for us. The fans are gonna be very pleased."
The tour will also feature an ongoing Korn reality series on fledgling Internet video site KushTV. The Loc Dog Show, named after Korn's longtime security and executive assistant who is hosting the show, will feature raw and uncensored backstage footage from the tour. It will appear as webisodes every Monday and Thursday at noon during the tour.
"It was a natural fit for us to partner with KushTV," Loc Dog said in a statement. "The site is about entertainment and Korn's lifestyle. They are the best at what they do and we are proud to be associated with them."
