Anybody,
I want to buy a cheap portable CD player, record some songs from MP3, and give it to my mom for Mother's Day. She has become a Dylan fan, and I don't have much money, and I thought I might could do this. We're going to eat lunch Friday (today is Wednesday) and I wanted to give her the player with some of my fav tunes of his, so she could at least listen to "Rolling Stone" as the first cut at the lunch table, and then when she goes home in her car, she can pop it into her player in there and listen to the rest.
I have no earthly idea how this MP3 thing works. I don't want to buy the little CD player unless I think I can accomplish this thing. I have blank computer CDs here at the house, and our system records stuff, so I can at least make the CD. Then I would pick up a cheap portable player at the grocery store on the way over to lunch in a couple days. I'm in a time crunch.
Question: Do the cheap portable CD players totally ruin the music? Does it cost anything to copy some songs from this webite to a CD? Do I have to download a program of some kind, and if I do, does it take hours and hours? What are the chances of me finding the Dylan songs I want to record? As a subpart to the last question: Should I just find a Bob Dylan "Greatest Hits" and do it that way? Or how do I search around and find the exact songs I want to record? I only want to record a half dozen tunes or so...I've listed a few off the top of my head at the bottom.
I know there is probably a place on this website somewhere that explains this entire process, but I am an idiot, and would do better if someone just said, "Do this, and this, and yes that's true, and no that's not the way it works," that sort of thing. Thanks. I'll check back for an answer later this morning, and then I'll have to come back again in the morning tomorrow, because of time constraints. Maybe I'm biting off more than I can chew. Here's my tentative playlist, with the first two my favs:
Like a Rolling Stone, Most of the Time, Early Morning Rain, Gates of Eden, Knockin on Heaven's Door, Gotta Serve Somebody, It's Hard Rain Gonna Fall, Baby Blue, Only a Pawn in their Game.
Sorry this is so long. I actually have access to all these songs on tape, but our tape player is goofed up. GG
