Don't Mess With Texas

So I'm back from the Lone Star State, after 4 days of hustling at the SXSW festival.

It's been described as "indie rock spring break," which it totally is, although there was some very good hip-hop in the mix as well.

Devin The Dude lit up the crowd on Wednesday night, dropping his patented weed-scented wisdom alongside his homies from the Coughee Brothaz. Check out the review here.

On the interview tip we got up with Def Jux mastermind El-P, who talked about his new album I'll Sleep When You're Dead (free stream here). We also connected with Rhymesayer's rep Brother Ali, who's prepping his new album The Undisputed Truth. Rawkus' new flagship group Kidz In The Hall did their thing live, with an exclusive performance at our studio. You can check all that out in our SXSH hub.

Aesop Rock also came through for a lengthy Q&A session, and we tracked down legendary funk guitar legend Dennis Coffey (the man behind "Scorpio" and "Theme From Black Belt Jones." Those will both be up soon.

Old school super-emcee Rakim rocked it with a huge live band outside at Stubb's BBQ, running through classic after classic for an enthusiastic afternoon crowd. Video from that and a bunch of other random treats will be live later this week.
