I thought the first Saw movie was brilliantly written and pretty damn scary; sadly the second one disappointed me a lot. It wasn't bad I guess, but no nearly as good as the first IMO. Amityville Horror, Rosemary's Baby, etc, those classics are always some of the best horror movies, and Hitchcock was definitely a thriller genious. I'll try to add some of my favourites into the mix: -The Evil Dead I and II (lower budgit cult-classics, but quite frighteningly done) -The original Night of the Living Dead (although I don't mind the 80's remake) -Pet Semetary I -It I kinda enjoy the Friday the 13th series, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Halloween as well, though not for technical or writing reasons. -ZeeDeevel |
If you count Scream as a horror film, then that. So bloody funny.. Final Destinations are pretty good, if you're not looking for plot.
There's also this one zombie movie I saw that was pretty good; it was deemed so violent it was banned everywhere until a few years ago, when they were allowed to sell it. I don't know the name, but I think they were on a tropical island, underground. The humans were on the same team, but were playing Army vs Scientist. Oh, and they taught one zombie how to shoot a gun, and he turned into a morale Frankenstein's monster. This movie good too.
i think the greatest horror movies have to be: nightmare on elm street, exorcism of emily rose, the exorcist, the shining, room 1408... and thats all i can think of atm. But i think Saw 2+3 were a big disapointment.
