Its quite clear all over this wonderful site, that genres bring a crowd of listeners which in turn promotes site activity. Its true that over time and the spreading of words, more and more people come to mp3.com to listen and post. But I feel and assuringly others feel that several genres, main-stream or not should be added to the current selection of selectable genres. Not only should these genres be selectable, but they should also have forums as well. This way artists merging thier thoughts on "X" genre wouldn't have to convert their ideas into a forum(s) not pertaining to that particular genre. I also propose an additional option (though I haven't looked to see if it is available already-) allowing the viewer to see weather the song he/she is viewing is an instrumental piece or not. While this requires some rethinking on the site's part, the outcome would be to everyone's benifit- ears and eyes.
As Cnet has done (w/ a part of thier massive site) maybe incorperating sub-genres would help with the individualism that every artist major and/or free-lance strive for. This would tell the reviewer what exactly their listening to and it would not complicate the site, rather clairify it. I will list some of the genres not available for selection or have a forum below. If you have any ideas please post.
Classical
Opera
Folk
Christian
Sound Track(s)
Show Tunes
Etcetera, Etcetera, Etcetera...
These Genres are a moajor part of everyday life (most if not all) yet have no according genre to place them or categorize with here in such a massive online community. There are more that need recognition here... name a few if they come to you.
