For me its very variated... but i like to play old-school videogames to get a wayback-something style... LoL...
But to play Rock i like to put an CD of some band that i like, and stay listening and torrando um bamba.
I think the method may vary for everyone; sometimes i´m simply walking on the street and somethings come to my head... just like a etereal flux or thing.

I get inspired by any artist who has the passion for the music... you know, when they get really into it and sh*t. I'm influenced by anything which catches my ear, so it might as easily be Dvorak or Stravinsky, as Zappa, Black Sabbath, B.B. King, Quiet Riot, Metallica, The Darkness or Slayer. Or Michael Jackson for that matter.
Recently I've discovered a big liking for Kiss - I'm sure there's something I can nick from there to incorporate into my music.

Excellent post! My influences are obviously The Beatles, as we formed a Beatle type group with our band The Waltles. Other influences are The Zombies, The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and George Harrison as solo artists. The Beatle influence is there on my song Man of Many Faces. I can't believe how well it did here. I'm thankful for the ability to write music and for everyone to listen to it. Well if I make techno-tracks. I´m influence by scooter, slow electronic music by Beck (also the my raps), but I´m also a bit influenced by Fatboy Slim. I think it´s a great mix - Scooter (most happy hardcore), Fatboy Slim ( the groove or the funk) and Beck (the lyrics or raps).

Anything with soul and energy....it has to be melodic though. Vocally I like anything with emotion but I'm not a fan of "vocal gymnastics". Same mentality with guitarists...I look for tone, not how many notes one can fit in a measure. I'm definitely from the "less is more" school.

What's wrong with Scooter?
True, he ain't much of an artist, but he's stolen some good tunes and I can think of people who did it worse than him.

My main source of inspiration is the work of Autechre, Oval, Vladislav Delay, Monolake, Matmos, Plastikman, Jeff Mills and everything that comes from the techno labels Basic Channel, chain Reaction and Mille Plateaux.You must be registered and logged in to post a message.

I'm influenced by many things. I view music as an artform more than a source of entertainment so music that influences me tends to be of the innovative sort. Early Bowie, The Cure, Pink Floyd. I'm also heavily influenced by people who are amazing musicians... Pete Townsend would have to be a big influence for me.
