I am new to all of this but I wanted to answer this question for some reason.. LOL.. The music that influences me is anything that I can close my eyes and listen to. ALthough I am a country music singer I find that I love all genres of music and can pretty much get into most music. I believe as a musician you should always keep your mind open to everything and give everything a chance. Musicians should be influenced by more sounds than what they play because you never know when your next hit just might not be the type of music you would normally play. In life as well as music things change and in this buisness you must change with the times. So I guess my influences aren't from just one genre or one professional artist but all genres and all artists. I'm influenced by Metal, Rock, classic sonatas like Beathoven and Mozart stuff... erm... Piano pieces... Loads ofstuff but the person playing has to feel the music! It has to have some kind of POWER... warmth, energie or a powerful emotion behind it...
My influences can be heard in my songs...

I listen to basically anything and everything that isn't...and never has been considered..."Pop" music. And in "you are what you eat" fashion, I like to think it all shows up in some way in my songs. A handful of East meets West-style recordings made an especially large impact: "Bourbon and Rosewater", "Dead Man Walking- the Score" (NOT the soundtrack album), and "Passion- the Soundtrack to the Last Temptation of Christ".
Last night, a friend of mine said that my lead guitar work reminded her "...more of Neil Young trying to do a Jimi Hendrix impression than of Jimi Hendrix trying to do a Neil Young impression". The bands that really inspired me to start playing were Megadeth and Metallica, and to a lesser degree, Pantera.
since then my music has been influenced by such bands as Fear Factory, KMFDM and Ramstein, then came from bands like Paradise Lost, Type-O-Negative, Lacuna Coil and Sentenced, then from bands like Spine Shank and Static X, then bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Kalmah, Insomnium, Korpikklani and Children of Bodom and Muse.
