Timberlake, HSM2 tops at Teen Choice

Singer and Disney TV movie claim three awards apiece; Shop Boyz, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, and Fergie perform.

A former child star and a bunch of current ones dominated last night's seventh Teen Choice Awards in Hollywood.

Justin Timberlake, who cut his teeth in Disney's Mickey Mouse Club in the early 1990s, grabbed three awards at the event, which was telecast by Fox from the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Studios Hollywood. Disney's current smash hit, High School Musical 2, also nabbed three awards.

Timberlake won for Choice Music: Male Artist, Choice Music: Payback Track for "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," and was honored with a special Teen Choice answer to a lifetime achievement award, Ultimate Choice.

High School Musical 2 won for Choice TV: Movie, and star Zac Efron won for Choice Male Hottie. Costar Vanessa Hudgens won Choice Music Breakout Artist: Female.

Fergie Fergie

The event, hosted by one-time kid stars Hilary Duff and Nick Cannon, featured performances from Shop Boyz, Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, and Fergie. Lavigne's song "Girlfriend" won for Choice Music: Single, while Fergie won for Choice Music: Female Artist.

Timbaland won for Choice Music: Rap Artist, Rihanna won for Choice Music: R&B Artist, and Fall Out Boy won for Choice Music: Rock Group and Choice Music: Rock Track for its song "Thnks fr th Mmrs."

The awards are selected by the teen-voting public, who had been submitting picks online since July 2. Instead of statuettes, winners received life-size surfboards.
