Metallica to play Bridge School shows

Lineup for Neil Young's annual two-day event, set for Oct. 27-28, also includes Jerry Lee Lewis, Eddie Vedder with Flea and Jack Irons, Tom Waits, John Mayer, and more.

Cooped up in the studio for much of the past two years, Metallica is set to play two acoustic shows as part of Neil and Peggy Young's annual Bridge School Benefit in California in late October.

The 21st annual event, which raises money for the nonprofit group that helps people with severe speech and physical impairments, such as the Youngs' son Ben, will be held Oct. 27-28 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif., near San Francisco. Young and his wife Peggy helped start the school in 1987 and have been holding this two-day event every year since then.

In addition to Metallica, which will be making its second Bridge School appearance, the event also landed the legendary Jerry Lee Lewis, as well as a handful of Bridge School stalwarts. As usual, Young will perform sets on both days of the event.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will perform with Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and original Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons.

Tom Waits will be joined by the Kronos Quartet at the event, which will also include sets from John Mayer, Tegan & Sara, and Regina Spektor.

Tickets for the Bridge School benefit go on sale Sunday, Sept. 9 at 10am through Live Nation and Ticketmaster. Advance tickets are $150.00 and $75.00 for reserved seating, and $39.50 for general admission, plus applicable service charges.
