Singer says she can't perform with her husband stuck in jail; all shows and appearances have been canceled through the end of 2007.

For Amy Winehouse, a year that started with wide acclaim and commercial success will end with yet another string of show cancellations over concerns about her mental health and bizarre behavior.

In a statement issued yesterday from her rep Tracey Miller, Winehouse said that she was canceling all remaining shows in 2007--she was set to perform throughout the UK in December--"on the instruction of her doctor."

"The rigors involved in touring and the intense emotional strain that Amy has been under in recent weeks have taken their toll," Miller said in the statement. "In the interests of her health and well-being, Amy has been ordered to take complete rest and deal with her health issues."

Winehouse, 24, has had a much-publicized battle with drink and drugs over the past six months, in addition to concerns about her overall physical and mental health. Compounding matters in recent weeks has been the incarceration of her 25-year-old husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, on charges stemming from a case in which he is accused of assaulting a barman in June.

"I can't give it my all onstage without my Blake," Winehouse said in the statement. "I'm so sorry but I don't want to do the shows halfheartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him, it's just not the same."

Following a raid of the couple's London home earlier this month, Fielder-Civil was detained on claims that he and a group of friends attempted to bribe the allegedly assaulted barman $400,000 to change his testimony in the assault case. He will remain in custody until January 18.

I never cared for her music (or her freakish looks) to begin with. "Rehab" has to be one of the worst songs I've ever heard. Either way, these people need to get their act together if they want anybody to take them seriously.

And @ dryden555, Big deal if she's "on the hard stuff". it's her choice to put that filth in her body, so I'm not feeling much sympathy for her or anybody else who does that stuff. Anybody who lives "real life" knows that people like she and her husband bring this stuff on themselves.

Man you get your shot and you blow it...Doesn't she realize that music is moving at hyper speeds these days...if she can't get it together soon, her ride will be done and over with as some other flavor of the month will be replacing her...Then she will be on a "Whatever happened to...?" show...
