TV doctor swoops in to aid troubled pop princess upon her release from LA hospital, with all-Brit episode Tuesday.
K-Fed's got the kids, and Britney Spears has Dr. Phil.
In the aftermath of the bizarre turn of events last week that left Spears hospitalized and without visitation rights to see her two young sons, it appears that Dr. Phil McGraw has inserted himself into the ordeal, with a full episode of the TV psychologist's talk show dedicated to the troubled pop princess on Tuesday.
McGraw issued a statement over the weekend, saying that he visited with Spears at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles on Saturday morning at the behest of her family members.
"My meeting with Britney and some of her family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of both medical and psychological intervention," McGraw said in the statement. "She was released moments before my arrival and was packing when I entered the room. We visited for about an hour before I walked with her to her car. I am very concerned for her."
McGraw plans to focus his entire show on Britney Tuesday, although it is unclear whether she or any of her family members will be appearing on it. This is not the first time McGraw has weighed in Spears' downward spiral.
Spears had been admitted to the hospital early Friday morning following a standoff at her home with ex-husband Kevin Federline's bodyguard, who was there to pick up the estranged couples two young sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, as part of their custody arrangement.
The face-off lasted more than three hours, with Spears reportedly barricading herself in a bedroom with one of her sons and police being called to the scene.
Spears was taken from her home on a gurney into an ambulance and was kept at the hospital as a "5150" hold, under which an individual may be held for observation against his or her will for 72 hours.
