Run-D.M.C. - Run-D.M.C. (1984)

"That was, I believe, the first hip-hop record I bought. I never heard anything like that...I think it was like in '84, and I just got into it big time...that was the record that set it off for me."

Main Source - Breaking Atoms (1991)

"That was very influential in a lot of the stuff I do...that's how I developed my drums sounds and stuff, was through that record."

Gang Starr - Step in the Arena (1991)

"Another classic sample record...it's not really polished, but it's funky. And its got that loop flavor, it's got that beat digger mentality."

Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique (1989)

"I'd never heard anything done like that before. There was just like a million samples on that album, the way they pasted them together was just incredible."

Portishead - Portishead (1997)

"Very moving pieces, a lot of emotion. It wasnt so musical, but there was something in it that just hit me...a little dark for some people I think, but, I don't know, I like it."
