Spears teaches dance class

Children's dance instructor. Children's dance instructor.

Britney Spears' road to recovery from reported mental problems apparently includes teaching dance classes to small children. On Monday night, Spears showed up at the Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood, California, to teach an hour-long class to a group of aspiring dancers between the ages of 4 and 7. It turns out that Spears has taught at the center before--the last time was soon after the birth of her second son, Jayden James, in 2006--and did so this time at the invitation of Robert Baker, director of the complex.

"She's been a client for 10 years, and she loves dancing and she loves kids," Baker told MTV News. "She has been rehearsing in our facility for the last month and a half for her next video, and she said, 'You know, I'd love to teach a class.' It's something she's done sporadically over the last 10 years. And the kids just loved it. She asked me to pick some kids for her to teach. The kids loved her--she was warm and friendly."

"When she walked in, the kids were in shock--they didn't know she was going to be teaching, but we did tell the parents beforehand and they were thrilled," Baker continued. "She went over to the class, said, 'Hi, I'm Britney--what's your name?' and she greeted them all individually. She got them warmed up and taught them a little routine, and they just had a blast. It was a wonderful experience for all."

Despite wearing an outfit that included fishnet stockings, Spears apparently was good enough to be invited back. "We've grown up with her, and watched her grow up," Baker said. "She was with us from the beginning, and she is always welcome to teach here."

Cash Money: One indicted, one arrested

Lil Wayne's mug shot Lil Wayne's mug shot

Lil Wayne and Juvenile no longer record albums together for Cash Money Records, but they share at least one common trait: the inability to avoid getting arrested on drug charges. A jury indicted Lil Wayne yesterday on drug and weapons charges.

The 25-year-old rapper, whose name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was charged with one count each of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the indictment.

Carter pleaded not guilty at his arraignment and is due back in court March 7 for a status hearing. The rapper's tour bus was stopped January 22 at a US Border Patrol checkpoint near Dateland, Arizona, 78 miles east of Yuma. Federal agents searched the bus and found nearly four ounces of marijuana, just over an ounce of cocaine, 41 grams of Ecstasy, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, authorities said. Carter was then arrested.

Juvenile Juvenile

Meanwhile, Juvenile--real name Terius Gray--was arrested Tuesday after police pulled him over for an expired tag and found marijuana in his car, authorities said. Juvenile, 32, was arrested on misdemeanor marijuana possession after he was stopped on Interstate 20 near Meridian, Lauderdale County Sheriff William Sollie said.

"A small amount of marijuana was seized, and he was placed under arrest," Sollie said.

Juvenile, who lives in New Orleans, was released later Tuesday.

Timbaland to go mobile with next album

Going mobile. Going mobile.

Timbaland announced a deal this week with Verizon Wireless to make the first "mobile album," which will be exclusively available to subscribers of V Cast, Verizon's mobile entertainment service. As Verizon's mobile producer in residence, Timbaland will produce one song per month throughout 2008. Each month, he will work with a different artist on a track while touring the country on the Verizon Mobile Recording Studio Bus, which will also capture making-of footage for V Cast subscribers on a dedicated Timbaland channel.

"Just producing a mobile album has never been done. I'm the first to ever do it," he told Billboard. Each mobile Timbaland track will be released days after it is produced. Songs will be released as a full-length download, ringtone, and ringback and will be available only through V Cast and Verizon. At the end of the year, some sort of compilation "album" will be released exclusively through Verizon.

Kravitz still ill, postpones more dates

Lenny Kravitz Lenny Kravitz

It seems like everyone is battling some sort of cold at this time of year, but not many have it as bad as Lenny Kravitz. The 43-year-old rocker was admitted to the hospital in Florida this week with severe bronchitis, forcing him to postpone his European tour, which was to begin later this week. The cancellations come on top of a number of US dates the singer was forced to cancel due to poor health.

Kravitz has suffered a series of severe respiratory tract infections since contracting the flu last month and his condition has increasingly worsened.

"Due to extreme dehydration and fatigue, doctors were unable to control it with outpatient treatment and advised the singer to check into the hospital," Kravitz's spokesperson said in a statement. "He was taken this morning to the emergency room at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami for immediate treatment."

Kravitz released his latest studio album, It Is a Time for Revolution, last week.

Motley Crue denies Live Nation deal

Motley Crue Motley Crue

Ever since Madonna signed her landmark $200 million deal with Live Nation, music industry insiders have been wondering who would follow in her footsteps. Robin Leach--yes, he of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous fame--claimed earlier this week that Motley Crue had signed a $100 million deal with Live Nation that would span three albums and three tours.

In a post on his Las Vegas gossip blog, Leach claimed that he learned of the deal from Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil himself. Neil reportedly told Leach of the deal at a birthday party he was hosting at Koi in Las Vegas, saying that the first tour under the deal would kick off in July.

But Crue guitarist Nikki Sixx fired back via an e-mailed press release from his publicist, saying that Neil was wrong. "Motley Crue has not signed any deals to tour or record whatsoever," Sixx said in the statement. "Any information to the contrary is 100 percent incorrect."

Emmylou Harris gets hall of fame honor

Emmylou Harris Emmylou Harris

Emmylou Harris will be honored for her stellar career with an induction into the Country Hall of Fame, it was announced this week. Harris will be inducted alongside other country notables: Tom T. Hall, the Statler Brothers, and the late Ernest "Pop" Stoneman. In announcing the honor, Tammy Genovese of the Country Music Association called Harris a revered song interpreter.

Harris, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, first became known for her duet work with Gram Parsons in the 1970s. After Parsons' death in 1973, she began a successful solo career that has spanned pop, country, rock, and Americana and earned her 12 Grammy Awards. Her most commercially successful album was a 1987 project with Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton called Trio.

"I've been thinking about this incredible journey I've been on and how I've been blessed," Harris, 60, said in a statement. "It's wonderful to be a member of this place that holds so much reverence for me."
