It's safe to say that the success of most live recording sessions doesn't rely on preventing an excited dog--or better yet, a pack of them--from rolling around in a giant puddle and inserting itself into the proceedings.
But in the MP3.com Live session below, recorded in a tunnel within Fort Funston near Ocean Beach in San Francisco, The Dodos performed a superb set, managing to keep the hundreds of canines roaming nearby at bay while doing so. That was despite the fact that almost every one of drummer Logan Kroeber's beats seemed to incite a bark in the distance.
The emerging San Francisco duo brewed up a potent combo of rapid-fire, percussive rhythms and adept songwriting. Signed to Frenchkiss Records, Kroeber and frontman Meric Long release their debut album, Visiter, on March 18.
The Dodos are primed for a coming-out party of sorts at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, next month, after which they'll head out on a nationwide tour through the end of April.
Check out Long and Kroeber doing their thing at Fort Funston.
