With her hall-of-fame induction coming in two weeks, Madge names album, unveils tracklist, and pegs release date for April 29.
She might be on the verge of a career-defining recognition, but Madonna still has plenty of candy for the kiddies.
With her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame set for March 10, Madonna unveiled details for her latest album, which will be her final release on Warner Bros. before she kicks off her innovative, 10-year deal with concert promoter Live Nation.
The new album will be called Hard Candy, and will hit stores April 29. The album is the follow-up to 2005's Confessions on a Dance Floor, and will be preceded by the single "4 Minutes to Save the World." The track features both Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, who produced it.
In addition to Timbaland, the album will feature production by Pharrell Williams and Nate "Danjahandz" Hills.
"She loves candy," a Madonna rep told Entertainment Weekly in announcing the details of the record. "It's about the juxtaposition of tough and sweetness, or as Madonna so eloquently expressed: 'I'm gonna kick your ass, but it's going to make you feel good.'"
The album will hit stores just seven weeks after Madonna achieves an honor garnered by very few pop artists, if any. On March 10, she will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame alongside The Dave Clark Five, Leonard Cohen, John Mellencamp, The Ventures, and Little Walter.
Madonna will be introduced by Timberlake, for whom she reportedly sang "Happy Birthday" and gave him a cupcake and champagne on his 27th birthday last month.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony will take place at New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel.
