Seattle fest will be part of 65-date trek for reunited band fronted by Scott Weiland; Lucinda Williams and Neko Case also on the bill.

Bumbershoot 2007 was anchored by a celebrated hip-hop group with a colorful and turbulent history.

The reunited Stone Temple Pilots The reunited Stone Temple Pilots

The 2008 edition of the Seattle festival will be the alternative rock version of that blueprint, swapping the reunited Stone Temple Pilots for the Wu-Tang Clan.

The three-day event, set for August 30 to September 1 at Seattle's City Center, will also feature performances from Beck, Lucinda Williams, Neko Case, Ingrid Michaelson, Jakob Dylan, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, !!!, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Saul Williams, M. Ward, the Walkmen, Blitzen Trapper, John Vanderslice, Dan Deacon, Tim Finn, Joe Bonamassa, Bedouin Soundclash, Asylum St. Spankers, and Final Fantasy.

As usual, the event will feature loads of non-music entertainment, including a comedy program, a film festival, and a theater bill.

Bumbershoot three-day passes are on sale now via Bumbershoot.org. Single-day tickets begin going on sale July 15.

Stone Temple Pilots, which confirmed their long-rumored reunion earlier this week with a press conference and a short live set at the former Hollywood Hills estate of magician Harry Houdini, will play 65 live dates on a marathon tour that will run from May to November.

One of the most inventive and eclectic figures to emerge from the '90s alternative revolution, Beck was the epitome of postmodern chic in an era obsessed with junk culture. Stone Temple Pilots Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots were able to make alternative rock into stadium rock; naturally, they became the most critically despised band of their era. Accused by many critics of being nothing more than rip-off artists, pilfering from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains, the band nevertheless became major stars in 1993. And the influences of...

Lucinda Williams Lucinda Williams

The object of cultish adoration for years, singer/songwriter Lucinda Williams was universally hailed as a major talent by both critics and fellow musicians, but it took quite some time for her to parlay that respect into a measure of attention from the general public. Part of the reason was her legendary perfectionism: Williams released records...

Neko Case Neko Case

Alternative country singer/songwriter Neko Case won a steadily growing cult audience for her smoky, sophisticated vocals and the downcast beauty of her music. Born in Alexandria, VA, Case moved around often as a child, spending the largest part of her youth in Tacoma, WA. She left her parents at age 15, and three years later she started playing...

No. 4 gave Stone Temple Pilots the comeback they were looking for, albeit a little later and a little differently than expected. They seized this opportunity by turning out the same record as the...

While many considered Car Wheels on a Gravel Road and Essence as definitive statements of arrival for Lucinda Williams as a pop star, she "arrived" creatively with her self-titled album in 1984 and opened up a further world of possibilities with Sweet Old World. The latter two records merely cemented a reputation that was well-deserved from the...

Neko Case
Neko Case hasn't had much need to prove her credentials as a major artist since making her solo debut with 1997's The Virginian, but she's been refining her skills in the recording studio on each subsequent release, and with 2006's Fox Confessor Brings the Flood she's fashioned an album that can cautiously be called a masterpiece.
