Veteran rockers will be the first to release a new single through the popular game; 40-date summer festival also planned.

Beaten to the punch over the years for the first celebrity sex tape, trainwreck frontman, and drug-centric memoir, Motley Crue has now achieved a first.

The veteran LA rockers are debuting "Saints of Los Angeles," the first single from the group's upcoming album, through the wildly popular video game Rock Band. The announcement was made earlier today by the game's makers, Harmonix and MTV Games.

The song precedes the forthcoming album of the same name, the band's first new studio record with all four original band members in a decade, which will hit stores June 17.

The band held a press conference this afternoon (watch it here) to discuss the song and to unveil Crue Fest, a 40-date tour headlined by Motley Crue and also featuring the likes of Buckcherry, Papa Roach, Crue bassist Nikki Sixx's side band SIXX:AM, and Trapt. The trek will kick off July 1 in West Palm Peach, Fla., and conclude Aug. 31 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

A special Crue Fest CD featuring tracks from all of the bands on the tour will be available exclusively at Best Buy beginning June 17. The song "Saints of Los Angeles" features backing vocals by Josh Todd of Buckcherry, Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, James Michael of SIXX:A.M., and Chris Brown of Trapt.

Tickets for Crue Fest '08 will go on sale immediately through TheRockvine.com. and will be available for select dates through Ticketmaster beginning Friday.

"Saints of Los Angeles" will be available for download for 99 cents today via Microsoft Corp's Xbox Live Marketplace and on Thursday via Sony Corp's PlayStation store.

Rock Band went on sale last November and now has more than 80 tracks available for download in addition to the 58 tracks in the original game. MTV Games said players have bought more than 6 million downloadable songs for Rock Band. The game now has more than 80 tracks available for download in addition to the 58 tracks in the original game.
