Fall Out Boy bassist is accused of assaulting a heckler after a private show at a bar in the band's native Chicago in June 2007.
The bitter taste of getting beat up by the poster child for emo glam must take a while to sink in.
More than 10 months after he was allegedly assaulted by Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz and his security team after a show, a Chicago man has filed a lawsuit against Wentz, his security firm, and the venue, Schuba's Tavern.
According to the complaint filed yesterday in Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois, Wentz punched Andy Kallas without provocation following the band's private acoustic show for about 200 people at Schuba's in June 2007.
Kallas, 31, claims that Wentz walked off after punching him, leaving his security team to beat him "for several minutes."
Kallas claims to have "suffered serious injuries to his head, mouth, and face" and is seeking unspecified damages.
Wentz's camp issued a statement in response. "This case is meritless. We looked into it, and the facts don't support his claims. We will vigorously defend this case in court."
The Internet was rife with commentary, videos, and photos of the incident when it occurred, with many attendees claiming that Kallas had repeatedly hurled insults at the band--specifically at Wentz over his relationship with singer and now-fiancee Ashlee Simpson.
