Rock vets will release long-delayed, as-yet-untitled album on Sept. 13, putting out one new single on the 13th day of each month until then.
Say what you will about Robert Smith, but the Cure frontman does not suffer from triskaidekaphobia.
The goth-pop vet has finally nailed down a release date for his band's long-delayed, as-yet-untitled album, pegging it--the band's 13th studio album--to hit stores on Sept. 13.
To prime the pump of its fan base, which has waited four years since the band's 2004 self-titled album, the Cure will release four singles, one per month, on the 13th day of each month.
The singles run, available in both physical and digital formats, will kick off May 13 with the arrival of "The Only One," backed by nonalbum B-side "NY Trip." "Freakshow"/"All Kinds of Stuff" will follow on June 13.
The new album, arriving via Suretone/Geffen, was originally due in early 2007 and then postponed twice, as Robert Smith struggled with writer's block. The band also postponed its fall 2007 tour.
The Cure will launch a tour in support of the new album on May 9 at the Patriot Center in Washington, DC. The 26-date trek will include a stop at the Sasquatch Festival in Washington state. 65daysofstatic will open on all dates.
