Traveling metal show will be held Aug. 9 in Dallas, with sets from Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Serj Tankian, and many more.
The traveling circus that is Ozzfest is staying in one place this year.
This year's Ozzfest--the massive metal festival established in 1996 by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne--will be a one-off affair, taking place August 9 at Pizza Hut Park in Dallas. The show will feature Ozzy's only concert performance of the summer, as well as sets from Metallica, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Serj Tankian, Hellyeah, Sevendust, and Shadows Fall, among others.
Cavalera Conspiracy, Apocalyptica, In This Moment, and an all-star tribute to late Pantera guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott are also scheduled for the main stage. Devildriver, Kingdom of Sorrow, Soilent Green, Witchcraft, and Goatwhore are set for the second stage, while Sword, Drowning Pool, and Rigor Mortis will hold down the third stage.
The move comes just one year after the Osbournes made Ozzfest into a sponsor-driven, free event, with acts playing without being paid. The 25-date amphitheater tour featured such artists as Lamb of God, Hatebreed, and Lordi, among others.
