With a new album on the way and their faces on a ubiquitous ad for Verizon's new mobile music download service, the Fugees are gearing up for two high-profile performances in the next week.

The once-heralded hip-hop trio--Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel--broke up bitterly in 1999, following their smash The Score.

Each went on to record solo albums, with Jean's The Carnival and Hill's critically acclaimed The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill the only hits of the bunch.

The trio reunited in late 2004 for Dave Chappelle's Block Party concert in Brooklyn--a Michel Gondry-directed DVD from it comes out March 3--and got together again last year to work on a new album, set for release later this year.

The first single off the album, "Take it Easy," has been one of the featured tracks for Verizon's V Cast music download service.

After touring Europe in December, the Fugees are set to play Friday at a Super Bowl pre-party in Detroit. The Unplugged Super Bowl Party concert also features John Legend and Slum Village. Tickets cost $75 to $100.

The trio will also play live 7 p.m. Friday on the corner of Hollywood and Vine in Los Angeles. The performance will include a preview of songs from the unreleased album. The show will also be available for streaming on all Verizon V Cast-enabled phones.
