One day after marrying a former Miss New York, former Creed singer is detained for public intoxication.

An allegedly intoxicated Scott Stapp was arrested Saturday at Los Angeles International Airport for being drunk in public, according to the airport's police department.

A spokesperson for the airport's police department confirmed to MP3.com News that the former Creed singer was taken into custody for being under the influence. She said she was unable to elaborate on the charges or what brought Stapp to the attention of police.

Stapp reportedly registered a blood-alcohol level of .18 after being prevented from boarding a plane at LAX.

Stapp was married one day earlier in Miami to former Miss New York Jaclyn Nesheiwat. Nesheiwat serves as the director of public affairs for the Scott Stapp Foundation, which promotes healthy parent-child relationships.

The Airport Police Department spokesperson said Stapp was arrested at LAX and transferred to the Van Nuys division for booking and blood alcohol testing.

Stapp has had his share of alcohol-related dustups in recent months.

Soon after releasing his solo album last November following years as the front man of Christian rock band Creed, Stapp got into a brawl with members of 311 at a hotel lounge in Baltimore over Thanksgiving weekend.

Members of 311 said at that the time that they were in the lounge at the Harbor Court Hotel in Baltimore with their wives and friends when a drunken Stapp walked in, making crude remarks and acting belligerently.

"Scott was looking for a fight--and that's what he got," the band posted on its Web site. "A fight ensued. Soon the police arrived and everyone was restrained and questioned; and Scott was ultimately asked to leave the hotel."

The New York Daily News reported in early December that Stapp was also intoxicated at a taping of Spike TV's Casino Cinema, insulting host Beth Ostrovsky and calling U2's Bono an "a**."

In November 2005, Scott Stapp returned to rock listeners once again with Great Divide, his debut solo effort after Creed's breakup a year earlier. The title track was also the lead single, and it reprised the anthemic post-grunge swagger of Stapp's old band. But in the run-up to its release, the singer had also been vocal about Great Divide's...

Creed emerged from a good-sized pack of post-grunge contenders to become one of the biggest-selling rock bands in America during the late '90s.
