But as project comes together to make '70s sitcom into a feature film, the real question is, "Who's going to play Horshack and Barbarino?"

AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted is ready to take on the role of Mr. Kotter.

Ice Cube, the West Coast rapper-turned-actor, has inked a deal to produce and star in a feature-film remake of the 1970's TV sitcom Welcome Back, Kotter.

According to Variety, the rapper signed the deal with Dimension Films, with shooting expected to begin this fall with Tom Brady (who directed Rob Schneider flicks The Hot Chick and The Animal), in final negotiations to direct and write the script.

Cube will be playing the role of Kotter, the white, heavily mustached inner-city high school teacher played by actor Gabe Kaplan, who shares rights to the series. In the original TV series, Kotter schools a class of likable troublemakers that includes the likes of Horshack and Vinny Barbarino, played by a young John Travolta.

Cube has a new album on the way, Laugh Now, Cry Later, and the Scott Storch-produced "Why We Thugs" will serve as the first single. The 20-track album will feature guest spots from Snoop Dogg, Lil' Jon, WC, and Kokane.
