Britney isn't following in Jolie's footsteps
A press rep for Britney Spears has denied the claim of a Namibian government official that the pop star was considering having her baby in that African country, where paparazzi magnet Angelina Jolie gave birth to her daughter with Brad Pitt earlier this month.
"Not true," Spears' New York-based publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnik, wrote in an e-mail to the Associated Press without elaborating.
The denial came just hours after Leon Jooste, Namibia's deputy environment and tourism minister, claimed to have received an inquiry on behalf of Spears and husband Kevin Federline to host the couple and their 9-month-old son, Sean Preston, in advance of the arrival of the couple's second child.
"She has shown interest to come over to Namibia," Jooste told the AP earlier in the day from South Africa. "Nothing has been confirmed yet, but there is a definite possibility of that happening. She wants to come in very low profile and have some privacy. She might change her mind if we reveal too much."
Speculation surrounding Spears has skyrocketed in recent weeks following incidents that caused some to question her parenting skills. In an interview with NBC's Matt Lauer that aired Thursday night, Spears defended her parenting skills as well as her marriage, which some reports have said is on the rocks.
K-Fed, an aspiring rapper, recently signed with Five Star Vintage to be the face of the clothing brand's first advertising campaign, the company announced Friday. The campaign was shot in Los Angeles.
Beyonce gets ensnared by PETA activists
Beyonce thought she was to have dinner Thursday night with two lucky fans who had won an eBay auction benefiting VH1's Save the Music Foundation. What she got instead was an interrogation by two PETA activists who'd won the auction with the intention of getting the R&B star to cease using fur in House of Dereon, the clothing line she owns with her mother Tina. The activists, who filmed the encounter, began the dinner engagement at the swanky restaurant Nobu in New York City by lavishing praise on the singer. They quickly began asking Beyonce why she doesn't stop using fur in the Dereon line and pulled out a portable DVD player showing Pamela Anderson's attack on the fur industry, which highlights graphic footage of the process of killing animals for their fur. Restaurant security quickly escorted the activists out of the restaurant.
Croatian soccer team to rock out
Reeling from a 1-0 loss to Brazil in its opening game in the World Cup, the Croatian national soccer team's management is digging deep into the classic rock well for inspiration.
Really deep.
The team's managers let players attend a Deep Purple concert held today just 100 yards from the team's hotel in Germany on the eve of the team's game against Japan. A special zone had been set up for Croatian players who wanted to attend the performance.
"Music gets the rhythm process going and the blood stream running," team treasurer Zorislav Srebric said. "Not only will they hear and see it (the concert), they can be part of it."
