Former 'NSYNCer to build buzz for his sophomore release, which hits stores September 12, with first single "SexyBack" and a US tour in August.
Justin Timberlake is out to prove that his smash solo debut album was no fluke.
The former 'NSYNC frontman, whose 2002 debut Justified sold more than 7 million copies worldwide, said today that he will release his sophomore solo album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, on September 12.
The evocatively titled album was cowriten and coproduced by Timberlake himself, along with Timbaland, Rick Rubin, and JAWBreakers, the moniker for Timberlake's production duet with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.
FutureSex/LoveSounds will be preceded by both a radio single and a tour of Europe, Japan, and the US.
The single, which Timberlake cowrote and coproduced with Timbaland and Nate Hills, is dubbed "SexyBack." The song will head to radio July 7. Timberlake will head to Europe and then to Japan in July to promote the album with a series of performances, with a US club tour set for August.
When asked by Billboard in January to describe the album, will.i.am said, "I can't explain it, that's how dope it is. He just surprised me again. I was surprised that I was even going to like Justin Timberlake. Then he turned me into a fan, and I've become a fan. That means you are so talented that you are changing people's vocabulary."
