Eminem nearing divorce from Kim
Slim Shady is inching toward his second divorce from Kimberley Mathers. The multiplatinum rapper and his on-again, off-again wife attended their first divorce hearing today behind closed doors in Macomb Circuit Court, according to the Detroit Free Press.
Eminem--real name Marshall Mathers--entered court through underground tunnels and secure elevators for the hour-long hearing. Kim Mathers is seeking financial support, attorney fees, and joint custody of the couple's 10-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott. The parties have a settlement conference scheduled for September 19.
This marks the second divorce proceedings for the couple. They were first married in June 1999, and Eminem filed for divorce in August 2000 and it was finalized in October 2001. Eminem's turbulent relationship with Kim has long been a lyrical inspiration for the rapper. On his debut album, 1999's The Slim Shady LP, he rapped about killing Kim and disposing of her body, complete with a visual of a woman's body in the trunk of a car parked on a pier on the album's cover. One year later on The Marshall Mathers LP, Eminem described killing Kim in graphic detail.
The couple had reconciled in recent years, and remarried January 14, one month after the rapper told a Detroit radio station that the couple was back together. Eminem filed for divorce a second time in April. He has also had to endure the slaying of one of his closest friends, D12 member Proof.(12:30 p.m.)
Stefani reportedly eyeing film role
Just weeks after having her first baby, No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani is reportedly in talks to star in a remake of Baby Doll, the film based on the Tennessee Williams screenplay.
Stefani, who played screen legend Jean Harlow in Martin Scorsese's The Aviator, would play the lead role. The original 1956 film, which starred Carroll Baker and Karl Malden, centers on a beautiful young woman who becomes the object of affection for a cotton producer rival of her husband.
Stefani and her husband, former Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, gave birth to their son, Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, on May 26.(11:40 a.m.)
Notorious BIG to get action figure

Mezco Toyz said this week that it plans to sell a nine-inch replica of "Big Poppa," complete with a white suit, removable hat, cane, and jewelry. The firm said the action figure should be in stores by the fall, and fans can preorder the toy from the company's Web site starting later this summer. A retrial in the wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of BIG against the City of Los Angeles has been postponed until January.(11:00 p.m.)

Pete Doherty to publish diaries
If Danny Boyle is looking for a tome on which to base a follow-up to Trainspotting, he might want to check out the upcoming tome from rocker Pete Doherty. The 27-year-old Babyshambles frontman, whose drug-laden antics have been the subject of a media frenzy in recent months, will publish a collection of his journal entries, chronicling his music career, battle with drugs, and brief, turbulent relationship with model Kate Moss. The book, culled from 20 volumes of Doherty's personal journals, will be published in hardcover in March 2007 by Orion Publishing Group Ltd. Doherty did not show up for an event yesterday at London's Boogaloo pub to celebrate the deal. He had been slated to read an excerpt from one of his poems.(10:00 a.m.)
