Shine On (Atlantic) marks the follow-up to its 2003 breakthrough, Get Born," which sold 1.6 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It spawned the radio hits "Are You Gonna Be My Girl" and "Cold Hard Bitch."
The first single from the new album, "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is," will arrive August 7 at US radio outlets.
After holding writing sessions in Barbados, Brookfield, Massachusetts, Los Angeles, and Melbourne, the band decamped to Los Angeles to record with producer Dave Sardy, who was behind the boards for Get Born.
Jet will preview new material during its only Australian shows of the year, which are set for August 15 in Melbourne and August 17 in Sydney. The band will also play the UK's Reading and Leeds festivals at the end of the month.
A brief North American tour is scheduled to run from September 18 through October 6, with a longer trek due to get under way in late November.
