Miami rapper's "Hustlin'" is first ringtone to go platinum before the album containing the song has hit stores.

As he is fond of telling the world, fast-emerging Miami rapper Rick Ross is "the f***in' boss."

Rick Ross' Port of Miami. Rick Ross' Port of Miami.

Ross backed up that boast today, when the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirmed to MP3.com that Ross' hit "Hustlin'" has become the first ringtone be certified platinum--with 1 million ringtones sold--before the actual album containing the song is on has hit stores.

The 6'2", 300-pound bearded Def Jam rapper's first single has been propelled by the exceedingly catchy "Everyday I'm Hustlin'" hook and a remix containing Young Jeezy and Def Jam honcho Jay-Z.

"Ringtones are an amazing gateway to connecting with fans," Ross said in a statement. "They really are the next level. It's a beautiful thing that "Hustlin" is ringing on a million phones right now."

The RIAA added ringtones to its 47-year-old gold and platinum certification program in June. At that time, it recognized 84 Gold, 40 Platinum, and four Multi-Platinum ringtone certifications.

His debut album, Port of Miami, hits stores on Slip N Slide/Def Jam August 8.
