MCs Rakaa Iriscience and Evidence will release a behind-the-scenes DVD on Decon Media called The Release Party, with solo projects on the way.

Dilated Peoples are ready to rework the angles.

The LA-based hip-hop trio is leaving Capitol Records, where it has churned out four albums in six years, but it still has plenty of new material on the way, according to BallerStatus.net.

The group, which released its latest album, 20/20, in February, said the Capitol split was mostly amicable.

"There's a lot of good people at Capitol," rapper/producer Evidence told BallerStatus.net. "But, sometimes those aren't the people that write the checks. However, I'm not bitter; I'm definitely ready to move forward."

But although they're without a record deal, the trio--Evidence, rapper Rakaa, and DJ Babu--is by no means finished, as individuals or as a group, Evidence said. Decon Media, the company responsible for putting together the NBA 2K7 soundtrack, plans to release a behind-the-scenes Dilated Peoples DVD entitled The Release Party. The doc will include rare live footage, exclusive songs, and a history of the group. The DVD will serve as a platform for the trio to launch their solo work.

"Dilated Peoples is bigger than me," Evidence said. "It's bigger than Rakaa and Babu. That's why it's a beautiful platform to launch our solo projects." Both Rakaa and Babu will be featured on Evidence's solo album, The Weatherman, while Evidence is expected to appear on both Rakka's as-yet untitled solo effort and the third volume of Babu's mixtape-style CD, Duck Season.

Evidence is also collaborating with the Alchemist on The A&E Project, with both artists producing and rapping on the record, which is expected to hit stores after The Weatherman.

"I'm back in the lab, hungry, and ready to go," Evidence said. "Not being under a label and having restrictions is something I've dreamed about--and that opportunity is finally here. I'm definitely going to make the most of my time and energy."

Dilated Peoples will perform at the year's Rock the Bells Festival on August 5.

According to some pre-release interviews, Dilated Peoples member Evidence sees 20/20 as one of the more casual full-lengths from the crew. The album wasn't built as a traditional album, but rather a collection of tracks, or as Evidence puts it, 20/20 was "made on a 12'' mentality." It's a great analogy really, since the track list bounces...
