Timberlake gives disco ball a beatdown on new album cover
On the video for his 2002 smash hit "Rock Your Body," Justin Timberlake pranced around a futuristic version of the Saturday Night Fever dance floor. But unlike in the disco-flavored sounds of his debut album, Justified, Timberlake is showing no love for disco on his sophomore album, FutureSex/LoveSounds, which hits stores September 12. Timberlake unveiled the cover art for the album today, and it features him smashing a disco ball--with a wide grin on his face--with his foot.
The first single off the record, "SexyBack," has been burning up the charts in recent weeks.
Lohan learning to shoot, wants to go to Iraq
Singer/actress/party girl Lindsay Lohan wants to follow in the footsteps of her idol, Marilyn Monroe, and head overseas to entertain the troops. But before she heads off to Iraq, Lohan is going to take shooting lessons, according to an Elle magazine interview with Lohan that hits newsstands today.
"I'm not afraid of going," she told the mag. "My security guard is going to take me to a gun range when I get back to LA, and I'm going to start taking shooting lessons. He says if I'm going to go there I should know how to shoot."
Lohan, 20, called Monroe her idol and said she'd love to travel to Iraq much in the way that Monroe traveled to Korea in the 1950s.
"It's so amazing seeing one woman just going somewhere, this beautiful sex kitten, who's basically a pinup, which is what I've always aspired to be," she said.
Lohan said she has tried unsuccessfully to get the office of US Senator Hillary Clinton to help her arrange the trip to Baghdad.
"Hillary was trying to work it out, but it seemed too dangerous," she said.
A spokesperson for Clinton told Reuters that Clinton's office referred Lohan to the USO (United Services Organization), which handles such affairs.
The Elle interview comes a little more than a week after Lohan was publicly scolded by a film producer for repeatedly showing up late for work during the shooting of her latest film, Georgia Rule. Lohan was also reportedly dropped by her UK record label for failing to sufficiently promote her 2004 album Speak and her single "Over" in the UK.
Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler to divorce
Yet another reality-show couple is calling it quits. Just weeks after 'Til Death Do Us Part stars Carmen Electra and Panic Channel guitarist Dave Navarro said they were splitting up, former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and his Playboy Playmate wife Shanna Moakler are doing the same after two years of marriage, People magazine reported today.
The couple's marriage was chronicled in the MTV reality show Meet the Barkers. They have had two children together, and Moakler has a daughter from a previous relationship with boxer Oscar De La Hoya. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, stars of the MTV reality series Newlyweds, divorced in June.
Korn fan arrested on murder charge after concert beating
One of the men who allegedly beat up another man at Korn's Family Values tour stop in Atlanta last month has been arrested on murder charges. Michael Scott Axley, 24, allegedly punched Andy Richardson, 30, in a scuffle, causing Richardson to fall and hit his head on the concrete divider between the pavilion and grass areas of Atlanta's Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheater, according to reports. Richardson died two days later.
Prior to the arrest, the band had issued a statement saying, "All the bands on the Family Values Tour offer their sincerest condolences and prayers to the family of 30-year-old Andy Richardson... Korn are appalled at the actions of these men and are imploring anyone who witnessed this senseless act or has any information about the attack to please immediately come forward by contacting local authorities."
