With no label deal in sight, K-Fed starts his own; Boy George cleans NYC streets; Madonna abandons film career; Jagger voice strain forces Stones to cancel show.
K-Fed forms label to drop his album
Unable to land a record deal and with nowhere left to turn, Kevin Federline is releasing his debut album, Playing with Fire on his own label, Federation Records.
Playing with Fire, which features the single "Lose Control," is scheduled for release in September.
K-Fed's latest venture is just one of many that the rapper-dancer says he's envisioning. Earlier this month, Federline told Steppin' Out magazine that he wants a tabloid run by celebrities that would only spew information from celebs' points of view.
In other Federline news, his wife--Britney Spears--said she wants to renew her wedding vows with Federline, to thwart rumors the marriage is on the rocks, after the couple's second child is born in October, according to In Touch magazine.
Boy George's big trash day out
Remember Boy George's court sentence last month that would force the singer to play New York City trashman? The Big Apple's finest journalists and paparazzi sure did, scoping the city to find Boy George--real name George O'Dowd--donned in orange vest and all.
"You think you're better than me?" he yelled at the media, gathered around the singer as he attempted to serve his sentence. "Go home. Let me do my community service. This is supposed to be making me humble. Let me do this. I just want to do my job."
The 45-year-old O'Dowd joined Department of Sanitation workers this morning after he pleaded guilty last month to falsely reporting a crime to police. O'Dowd reported a break-in in his Manhattan apartment in March, but responding officers said they found cocaine in his apartment. As part of his plea, O'Dowd was cleared of the drug charge.
But O'Dowd may spend most of his day away from the news media's critical eye. "Things outside in the street were a little chaotic," Sanitation spokesman Keith Mellis told the Associated Press about the spectacle. "We'll see if there's some cleaning that can be done inside."
No more movies for Madge
Madonna has kissed her so-so movie career goodbye.
"I hate to admit it, but I've decided to give that up," she said. "How can any film survive if everyone says it's going to be a flop from the very day the project is even conceived? It's already dead in the water."
Praised in 1996's Evita, Madonna's major follow-up--2002's Swept Away, which was directed by her husband, Guy Ritchie--failed miserably at the box office. With an estimated cost of $10 million, Swept Away earned only a little more than $1 million at US theaters, according to the Internet Movie Database.
Last week, Madonna ruffled feathers in Italy while on her Confessions world tour by staging a mock crucifixion--inciting fierce, three-way condemnation by Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim leaders.
Stones axe Spain gig
A doctor ordered Mick Jagger to rest his vocal cords, forcing The Rolling Stones to cancel a 37,000-strong concert in Spain.
"I am very sorry to be canceling this show," Jagger said in a statement. "I always love playing in Spain, but unfortunately I have no other choice and I apologize to everyone who bought tickets for tonight."
The concert, in the north-central Spanish city of Valladolid, is unlikely to be made up at a later date, said Carmen Carnero, a spokeswoman for the concert's promoter.
As Jagger, 63, and the rest of the Stones age, they've been inclined to cancel more and more gigs due to health problems. Guitarist Keith Richards fell from a coconut tree in Fiji, an incident that required the 59-year-old to undergo brain surgery.

So Federline get's a label eh...the world makes sense now. Starting a magazine run by celebs? He does realize he's only married to one and not a celebrity himself, right?
Hmm, the Stones are looking a little shakey as of late...
