Extremely pregnant Britney introduces K-Fed
To introduce him for his first-ever network TV performance, Kevin Federline called out the big gun: his heavily pregnant wife, Britney Spears. K-Fed performed "Lose Control," the first single from his upcoming rap album, on the 2006 Teen Choice Awards on Fox last night. The performance, which leaned heavily on lights, effects, and dancers, was introduced by the newly brunette-coiffed Spears, who wore a babydoll-style pink minidress that showed off her fully pregnant figure. Spears, set to give birth to her second child next month, told the crowd, "This show has been very good to me and my career over the years. And I'm hoping that it will be as good to our next performer. Please give a big welcome to my man, Kevin Federline." K-Fed is set to release his album, Playing With Fire, later this month on his own Federation Records.
German cops: No criminal offense in Madonna mock crucifixion
After vowing to investigate Madonna's Sunday night concert in Duesseldorf closely for any "criminal offenses" that occurred during the controversial mock crucifixion scene, German prosecutors said today that they have decided against doing so. The controversial scene, which has been a part of every Madonna concert on her current Confessions tour, has drawn a heap of criticism, most recently from religious leaders following her performance in Rome, Italy. In the wake of that criticism, German authorities had said that they would monitor reports about the concert. They did not, however, send observers. German prosecutors said that while the crucifixion scene, which occurs while Madonna sings "Live to Tell," might be "hurtful to religious people," there was no indication of a criminal offense.
Stones resume tour as Jagger's throat heals
The seemingly infinite Rolling Stones A Bigger Bang tour resumed once again yesterday as frontman Mick Jagger's voice recovered from a bout of laryngitis that forced the band to cancel two gigs last week in Spain. The European leg of the tour was delayed for more than a month after guitarist Keith Richards fell out of a coconut tree while vacationing in Fiji and had to have surgery in New Zealand to repair head injuries. The tour also suffered a setback when bassist Ronnie Wood entered a rehab facility. The tour has been the biggest-grossing tour in the world for the past year.
Busta Rhymes allegedly assaults man who spit on his car
Busta Rhymes says the New York City Police Department is out to get him. The Brooklyn rapper was arraigned Sunday on an assault charge related to his alleged August 12 beating of a man who spit on his car. But Rhymes's lawyer told the Associated Press that the charge has more to do with the fact that Rhymes hasn't cooperated with police following the February slaying of his bodyguard, Israel Ramirez during the recording of Rhymes's music video for "Touch It." "This is payback by the NYPD," Rhymes's lawyer Scott Leemon said. "He should have received a desk appearance ticket." Rhymes was arraigned on charges of misdemeanor third-degree assault and harassment and weapon possession after cops allegedly found a 10-inch knife in his sports utility vehicle. He was released on $3,000 bail and is due back in court October 24.
