Rock icon tabs Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, and the Raconteurs as opening acts for fall arena tour.

He might have a disdain for modern music, but Bob Dylan is taking Modern Times on the road, and bringing three modern acts with him.

Dylan unveiled his fall tour dates today, tabbing Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, and the Raconteurs as opening acts for select dates.

As previously reported, fans who pre-order Dylan's upcoming Modern Times album, which hits stores August 29, through iTunes get first crack at tickets for shows on the fall tour. Tickets go on sale to the general public September 9.

Modern Times is the 65-year-old Dylan's first studio album in five years. His last, Love and Theft, was released in September 2001. The 10-song album contains the song "Workingman's Blues," a tribute of sorts to the album of the same name by country legend Merle Haggard, as well as a shout-out to Alicia Keys. It also includes the tracks "Netty Moore" and "Ain't Talkin', Just Walkin'."

I thought the Flaming Lips were opening for him. Is that the current leg of the tour?

Kings of Leon and Foo Fighters acoustic? Dylan deserves way better than that.

Bob Dylan's influence on popular music is incalculable. As a songwriter, he pioneered several different schools of pop songwriting, from confessional singer/songwriter to winding, hallucinatory, stream-of-conscious narratives. As a vocalist, he broke down the notions that in order to perform, a singer had to have a conventionally good voice,...

Kings of Leon Kings of Leon

The southern rock outfit Kings of Leon is comprised of the brothers Caleb (guitar), Nathan (drums), and Jared Followill (bass). While traveling across America's heartland during the late '80s and '90s with their evangelist father, the boys listened to the Rolling Stones and Neil Young. By the time Kings of Leon settled in Nashville in 1998,...

Foo Fighters Foo Fighters

While he was drumming with Nirvana, Dave Grohl was recording original songs at home that never received public release. Those tapes would become the foundation of Foo Fighters, the band he formed in 1995, after the death of Kurt Cobain. Like Nirvana, Foo Fighters melded loud, heavy guitars with pretty melodies and mixed punk sensibilities with a...

The Raconteurs The Raconteurs

A self-described "new band made up of old friends," the Raconteurs feature the White Stripes' Jack White and power pop maestro Brendan Benson on vocals, keyboards, and guitars, and the Greenhornes' drummer Patrick Keeler and bassist Jack Lawrence as the group's rhythm section. The idea for the band began when Benson and White collaborated on the...

The mysterious Followill family returns to the front porch/garage on the Kings of Leon's engaging sophomore effort, Aha Shake Heartbreak. Foo Fighters "In Your Honor"
Foo Fighters
Although it was as big a commercial success as Foo Fighters' three previous albums, 2002's One by One seemed flat and tired, as if their leader, Dave Grohl, had reached a songwriting slump or as if the band had exhausted its possibilities. The time was ripe for a reinvention, or at least a risk, and the group responded accordingly with In Your...

The Raconteurs
It's hard to call the Raconteurs a genuine supergroup since there's only one true rock star in the quartet: the White Stripes' eccentric mastermind Jack White. Sometime between the recording of the Stripes' 2003 breakthrough Elephant and its willfully difficult 2005 follow-up, Get Behind Me Satan, White teamed up with fellow Detroit...
